or... well. the amount of girlhood is debatable. if you're the ordinary sort, with no magical powers or senses and about the average amount of impure thoughts... yes, she's just a girl. a wild-eyed girl who looks like she desperately needs to be introduced to a hairbrush, but just a girl. those with magic senses or a pure heart, however, can see the glittering horns branching up and out through that wild hair, and the fur and scales decorating the sides of her face and the rest of her body.

she continues her wide-eyed and unfocused perusal of your face for several more seconds, and then huffs a disgruntled breath out through her nose, like you've personally disappointed her.

(unless you happen to be (a) Link, in which case: you are getting your face touched by clawed hands as her eyes somehow go even wider. you may not want to resist! those talons are impressive!) ]

My purpose is not for fear. But... it is difficult, to be among people. You are the first not to be unsettled at all.

Some people get picky about 'normal human' things. It's a little bit silly, honestly.

It is a kind of defense. Sometimes not needed, but better to have than not.

That's true. I guess a lot of people who aren't human are really powerful.

Yes. And... it does not always take power to do harm. If they are not following "normal human" rules, they are harder to predict.

[ she frowns into the distance for a bit as she says it, then pauses and refocuses on Evangeline. ]

You... knew. That I wasn't human.

Yeah. I can't actually see any non-human parts of you, but I work with nonhumans at my job, I'm pretty good at picking up. The vibes, I guess?

[ she hums, a little amused ]

There is little point in hiding "the vibes." The rest... only some can see.

[ there is something... ironic, perhaps, in that the majority of people can only see her puppet in a shape she can't actually fully force it into. the law of draconification is that to become a dragon is to be permanently changed; there are no take-backs and no loopholes, even via a projected avatar.

the light dragon doesn't have the best grasp on humor, but that does seem a little like a good joke to her. ]

[ as she does, the traits that she hadn't been able to see bloom into sight— the fur and scales covering all but the girl's face, the crystalline horns branching out from her hair, and the slow pulse of her multicolored eyes. her eyelashes look almost gilded, a solid gold just a few shades off from her hair.

(her hands are also very soothingly warm, like sitting in a sunbeam on a cool day. despite the scales, she is apparently not cold-blooded.) ]

That... should be enough. To see this body, and my true one.

...I am not a goddess, to be worshipped. I normally fly high enough to not be seen at all.

It probably doesn't feel great to be treated like a god when you just want to be treated like a person, huh?

I... do not. I am not a person, either. Not like you, or the other people on the earth.

[Not being human doesn't make her not a person, but she's also not going to argue that.]

[ being a spirit with a fractured mind just shy of a beast's is what makes her not a person, thank you very much,

but she points up with one hand. high, high above, a silvery ribbon winds its way in a slow circle among the clouds, blue and yellow flame just visible billowing back from its head. ]

A dragon.
